Abstract

Objective: The purpose of the study is to identify how effective the education and advocacy of patients with ichthyosis, a rare skin disease, are in improving this care and awareness of the disease. The study aims at a clear comprehension of how these efforts contribute to better patient rewards and raise the awareness of the population.

Study Design: Longitudinal observational research was carried out in three different stages of the dermatology clinic, and the sample size of the study was 150 patients with various types of ichthyosis.

Methods Information was gathered using surveys and interviews carried out with patients, care givers and practitioners. A pre- and post-intervention design was used to test the changes in knowledge, patient satisfaction and adherence to treatment.

Results: The results show a marked increase in the levels of patient awareness, response to treatment, and psychological and social well-being after specific educational and advocacy programs. Positive association between patient education and positive health outcomes were determined through statistical examination (p < 0,05).).

Conclusion: The concept of patient education and advocacy will play a vital role in the process of improving care on ichthyosis by raising awareness of patients about the illness and its management strategies and contributing to improved clinical outcomes.
